چکیده
Abstract Remote-sensing satellite images provided rapid and continuous spectral spatial information of the land surface in Sougia River catchment by identifying major changes that have taken place over 20 years (1995–2015). Vegetation indices (VIs) normalized difference vegetation index (NDVI), enhanced (EVI) leaf area were derived for monitoring mapping variations cover. The quantified decrease NDVI was found to be 4% between 1995 2005, further decreased 77.1% 2005 2015; it declined back almost initial status 1995. EVI results inconsistent suggesting seasonal crops influence temporal distribution VIs important input parameters modelling management catchment’s hydrological behaviour. Image classification 4- 6-class classifications unstable produced, respectively, a 13.8% 16.2% total change classes. Meanwhile, 8-, 10- 12-class showed an horizontal line with minor fluctuation less than 0.05%. post-classification detection analysis indicated degradation terms natural losses sparser or even no

Forest Cover Estimation in Ireland Using Radar Remote Sensing: A Comparative Analysis of Forest Cover Assessment Methodologies
Quantification of spatial and temporal changes in forest cover is an essential component of forest monitoring programs. Due to its cloud free capability, Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) is an ideal source of information on forest dynamics in countries with near-constant cloud-cover. However, few studies have investigated the use of SAR for forest cover estimation in landscapes with highly sparse...
متن کاملInvestigation of the Forest and Pasture Cover Changes in Arasbaran Ecosystem during 34 years, Using Remote Sensing Technique
Estimating the extent of changes in forest and rangelands land cover, leads to a clear understanding of the growth or decline of these natural areas and planning for effective protection of these national assets. The aim of current study was to reveal the trend of land-use changes in the Dizmar protected area of Arasbaran vegetative area, using MSS sensor of Landsat-5 for 1984, ETM+ sensor of L...
متن کاملIsolation of Mycobacterium malmoense in the island of Crete, Greece.
Mycobacterium malmoense was isolated from a broncho-alveolar lavage sample of a 73-year-old cancer (small cell lung carcinoma) patient in Crete, representing the first reported case of this pathogen in Greece. The isolate was considered to be a colonizer and the patient did not receive any antimycobacterial treatment while he received chemotherapy to which he responded favourably. No signs of p...
متن کاملInland wetlands mapping and vulnerability assessment using an integrated geographic information system and remote sensing techniques
The understanding of inland wetlands’ distribution and their level of vulnerability is important to enhance management and conservation efforts. The aim of the study was to map inland wetlands and assess their distribution pattern and vulnerability to natural and human disturbances such as climate change (temperature increase) and human activities by the year 2080. Inland wetland types i.e. for...
متن کاملPost-hurricane forest damage assessment using satellite remote sensing
This study developed a rapid assessment algorithm for post-hurricane forest damage estimation using moderate resolution imaging spectroradiometer (MODIS) measurements. The performance of five commonly used vegetation indices as post-hurricane forest damage indicators was investigated through statistical analysis. The Normalized Difference Infrared Index (NDII) was identified as the optimal dama...
